Abstract
⺠The paper describes the effect of silicon on Cr-Cr2Ta based alloys at 1000, 1100 and 1300 °C. ⺠A beneficial effect of Si-addition on oxidation resistance has been found at high temperatures. ⺠Beyond 7 at.% Si addition, no significant improvement in oxidation resistance is seen. ⺠An adherent chromia layer formed at 1000 °C but at 1100 and 1300 °C significant spallation occurred.
