Abstract
► Fe may form glasses with Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, and Ta and it is not favorable with V, Cr, Mo, W. ► In Fe-Zr-Nb, Fe-Ti-Nb, Fe-Cr-Zr systems glasses form over a wide composition range. ▶ Laves phase compositions can be potential glass formers in Fe-ETM alloys. ▶ Fe with Zr, Ti, Hf, Nb and Ta tends to transform to glasses or intermetallics when supercooled. ▶ The interplay of chemical and elastic component of enthalpy will dictate the phase formation in the alloys.
