Abstract
The influence of high pressure on TiB2-C structure formation during reactive sintering of TiC-B4C precursors is investigated. The isostatic pressure of 8â¯GPa has been shown to intensify the charge consolidation but to suppress new phase emerging. The latter confirmed gas phase diffusion to be predominant mechanism of boron to TiC transfer, and limiting stage of TiC-B4C to TiB2-C high temperature transformation to be B from B4C sublimation.
