Abstract
This research was conducted to demonstrate the oxidation behavior of an Fe70C10P10B5Mo5 amorphous ribbon investigated at 400-500â¯Â°C in dry air. The oxidation kinetics of the glassy alloy generally obeyed the parabolic-rate law with its oxidation rate constants steadily increasing with temperature. The oxidation rates of this alloy were slower than those of pure Fe and this indicated its better oxidation-resistant ability. The scale formed on the glassy alloy consisted mostly of a Fe2O3/Fe3O4 mixture, while minor amount of B2O3 was detected in the innermost scale.
