Abstract
Youlu Yuan and Zhuguo Li presents in their article [Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 738 (2018) 379-393] a series of formulae describing, among others, the length of the crystal edge in a two-dimensional case, critical interplanar distance and critical growth rate of a given hkl face. These formulae are used, in this article, to analyze a two-dimensional section of tungsten carbide (WC) crystal. The aim of this comment is to prove that, contrary to what the authors suggest, the applied formulae were not originally derived by them. The formulae have been developed by other researchers and they have been available in the literature.
