Abstract
Er3+ doped and Yb3+/Er3+ co-doped Bi3Ti1.5W0.5O9 (BTW) ferroelectric ceramics were successfully synthesized by a conventional solid-state reaction method. Their structural properties, reflectance spectra, up-conversion (UC) luminescence and temperature sensing behavior were investigated methodically. The optimal luminescent intensity was obtained in BTW:0.03Er, 0.09Yb ceramic. The UCL color coordinates of BTW:0.03Er, yYb samples indicate that the emitted light is highly saturated. In addition, by using the fluorescence intensity ratio technique, optical temperature sensing properties have been performed in the temperature range from 83 K to 483 K. The sensitivity has a large improvement of 33% by co-doping 0.09 mol Yb3+ in BTW: 0.03Er at 483 K. These results indicate that the prepared materials have a good prospect in high temperature sensor, emitting display devices and optical-electro integration applications.
