Abstract
We demonstrate control of the grain boundary character distribution (GBCD) in Fe-6.5 wt.% Si using directional recrystallization. This processing leads to an elongated grain structure through directional grain boundary migration, producing a GBCD with a high frequency of both low angle and low Σ coincidence site lattice boundaries. A thickness reduction during cold rolling of â¼30% can be obtained in the resulting material.
