Abstract
Yellow-emitting Sr3B2O6:Eu phosphors for white-light LEDs were prepared by sol-gel method. The effects of the synthesis temperature and Eu concentration on the photoluminescence property of Sr3B2O6:Eu were also investigated. The Sr2.93B2O6:Eu0.07 sample calcined at 1300 °C exhibits the best luminescence intensity. The Sr3B2O6:Eu phosphors prepared by the sol-gel method exhibit larger luminescence intensity than those prepared by solid-state reaction method, which may be due to the improvement of the absorption intensity and the crystallinity. The Sr3B2O6:Eu phosphors exhibit a broad and intensive excitation in the range of 230-460 nm. Also, the color temperature of Sr2.93B2O6:Eu0.07 phosphor is 2351 K and the color rendering index (CRI) is 59, suggesting that it is a potential candidate phosphor in the application of white-light LEDs.
