Abstract
► Uniform ZnO double-pyramids with macro-/mesoporous structures have been prepared via ultrasound-assisted route. ► The porous ZnO exhibits narrowed band gap and intensive blue emission. ► High specific surface area leads to extraordinary photocatalytic activity.
