Abstract
TC4 titanium (Ti) alloy and 301L stainless steel (SS) were joined by pulsed laser welding. A reaction layer was formed based on the diffusion and eutectic reaction of Ti and Fe at the Ti alloy-SS interface when laser acted on the Ti alloy. The microstructure of the reaction layer was mainly β-Ti, β-Tiâ¯+â¯FeTi and TiFe2. The mechanical properties of the joints were determined by the reaction layer and the tensile strength was 336â¯MPa.
