Abstract
Bridgman method with stationary crucible was used to grow NiMnCuGa single crystal. Microstructure observations, as well as XRD pattern, revealed a presence of martensitic structure at room temperature. Crystal structure was determined as a non-modulated tetragonal martensite. The phase transition occurred at 296â¯K and 290â¯K on heating and cooling, respectively. Magnetic entropy change (ÎSM) reached a peak value of â9.86â¯J/kgK at the field of 1520â¯kA/m. Refrigerant capacity (RC), calculated at FWHM of the ÎSM peak, reached a value of 28.5â¯J/kg. Directly measured adiabatic temperature change (ÎTad) spread over 51â¯K range and its maximum value reached 0.23â¯K at 1520â¯kA/m field.
