Abstract
A novel Au NPs-loaded MoS2/RGO composite photocatalyst was synthesized via an in-situ reduction method. The transmission electron microscopy characterization showed that Au NPs were successfully attached to the MoS2 and RGO support. The photocatalytic activity of the obtained samples was evaluated by splitting water to generate hydrogen. Compared with MoS2 and MoS2/RGO, Au NPs/MoS2/RGO composite showed enhanced photocatalytic activity. This is attributed to the synergistic effect of the surface plasmon resonance of Au NPs and enhanced electron transfer on RGO.
