Abstract
Temperature plays a vital role in the nucleation and growth of nanocrystals in the hydrothermal method, but the heating methods would cause some side reactions during the temperature rising period. Here, we modify the synthesis process of Marks decahedral Pd nanoparticles and do a detailed analysis of the internal structure of a Marks decahedral Pd Nanoparticle using aberration-corrected high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and the geometric phase analysis (GPA). The yield rate of Marks decahedral Pd nanoparticles increases to more than 60%. Our measurements confirm the existence of disclinations, which is consistent with the results given by the inhomogeneous strain model.
