Abstract
A soda-lime glass with a strong biocide activity has been used to obtain titanium alloy and zircon oxide glass-ceramic coatings for dental applications. The mechanical stability, adherence to different substrates and the chemical stability in artificial saliva at 30 °C have been studied. The biocide activity against a Gram-negative bacterium (Escherichia coli) has been determined. It has been proved that this biocide coating also promotes the precipitation of hydroxyapatite.
