Abstract
Porous spherical Co-doped SiO2/TiO2 hybrid particles were prepared using two-step impregnation (CS/T(i)) or impregnation and subsequent spraying of precursor solutions (CS/T(s)) to organic spherical monolith particles. The hybrid particles, after firing at 550 °C in air, possessed intermediate specific surface area and pore structure characteristics that were between those of Co-doped SiO2 porous spherical particles and TiO2 ones. The crystalline phase of TiO2 was anatase. The CS/T(s) particles possessed decomposition activity against gaseous acetaldehyde both in the dark and under UV. The ratio and position of Co-doped SiO2 and TiO2 are expected to be key factors for overall decomposition performance.
