Abstract
► Hollow core-shell MoO2 microspheres were synthesized by a template-free approach. ► The formation mechanism for the hollow core-shell MoO2 microspheres was proposed. ► The MoO2 microspheres showed higher lithium ion storage capacity than bulk MoO2.
