Abstract
W-Ti ODS alloy is a potential candidate for fusion applications. In this study, the W-Ti ODS coating on SUS304 stainless steels by mechanical alloying (MA) has been investigated. Two different W-Ti coating materials dispersed with Y2O3 and TiC were used in this study. The results show that the W-Ti coating by mechanical alloying technique provides an effective fabrication method and dispersion strengthening by reinforcement particles. The W-Ti coating dispersed with the nano-Y2O3 oxide exhibits a uniform microstructure and homogeneous distribution of composition. The use of high BPR during mechanical alloying can cause a considerable increase in the lattice distortion and decrease in the crystallite size, resulting in a significant increase in hardness.
