Abstract
The hydroxyapatite coatings were deposited by mechanical alloying on Ti substrates using vibratory and planetary ball mills. The structure and morphology of the deposited coatings were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The tribological properties and biocompatibility of the deposited coatings were also studied. A relatively high density and adhesion coating were observed for the coating obtained in a vibratory ball mill for powder mixture ratio of hydroxyapatite to α-Ti as 1:1, respectively. The average value of the hemolysis of the obtained coating was about 6.98%, which was statistically significant.
