Abstract
This paper presents a new test and analysis method for the characterization of the static and dynamic friction in a damper. In addition, a new friction model that refers to the experimental results is presented and compared with the Coulomb, Spring–Damper, and Bouc–Wen models. The proposed model accurately represents the experimental results as well as responds to the changes on the behavior due to frequency variations.
