Abstract
A rapid indirect method for inspecting profile deviations of conjugate disk cams is proposed. For a conjugate cam mechanism with an oscillating roller follower, if the center distance between the cam and the follower pivots is changed to be variable, when the cams rotate, the variation of the center distance may indicate the profile errors. Equations relating the center distance variation with the cam profile errors are derived. The method was verified by actually measuring a pair of conjugate cams.
