Abstract
In order to investigate their corrosion behavior, six float glasses of four different manufactures were analyzed by IR spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), x-ray photon spectroscopy (XPS) and corrosion test. The latter consisted of a leaching test and a climate chamber test. A different behavior was detected for each float glass examined. Also, a kinetic analysis of leaching with respect to different leaching kinetics for sodium and silicon was carried out. The corrosion of all float glasses could be minimized by coating through combustion chemical vapor deposition (CCVD).
