Abstract
⺠316 L austenitic stainless steel was nitrided by LEII using an electronic beam switch. ⺠Fase formation, nitrogen depth distribution and corrosion properties were investigated. ⺠Nitriding produces a beneficial effect on the resistance to localized corrosion of 316 L steel
