Abstract
⺠Laser deposition was used to create a functionally graded TiC/Inconel 690 composite coating. ⺠The gradient coating increased the surface hardness by an average of 145% over the base Inconel 690 material. ⺠Microstructural analysis showed presence of TiC particles over 30% introduced of a finely dispersed TiC phase. ⺠Wear results showed an average of 42% increase in volume loss on the disk with 40 vol.% TiC.
