Abstract
⺠Microstructure, hardness and wear of laser clad Al-12Si/TiB2 coatings were studied. ⺠Microstructure presents TiB2 dispersed in α-Al dendrites and α-Al + Si eutectic. ⺠Microhardness is 156 HV and sliding wear coefficient is 2.65 Ã 10â5 mm3/(Nm). ⺠Wear mechanisms are asperities oxidation, their fracture and tribolayer formation. ⺠Brittle fracture and detachment of tribolayer lead to material removal.
