Abstract
In this work, the YBO3:Eu3 + and Y3BO6:Eu3 + films on titanium sheets were prepared in an aqueous solution through an electrochemical deposition method. The structures of the films were tuned by a simple change of the applied potentials. After excitation at 394 nm, the Y3BO6:Eu3 + film showed an intensity ratio of red emission (5D0 â 7F2) to orange emission (5D0 â 7F1) about 3 times higher than that of the YBO3:Eu3 + film, which was in agreement with the lower symmetry of Y3BO6 crystal structure. Moreover, the emission decaying times indicated that Eu3 + doped Y3BO6 films had a high self-quenching concentration. Possible mechanism responsible for the observed difference in photoluminescence spectra between the films is discussed.
