Abstract
⺠GaN/ZnO light emitting diodes with and without MgO interlayer were prepared. ⺠MgO interlayer affected the ZnO growth on GaN. ⺠MgO interlayer was needed to observe optically pumped lasing. ⺠MgO interlayer was needed to observe emission under forward bias.
