Abstract
CVD diamond dressing disks are used for conditioning vitrified bonded grinding wheels in many cases today. These rotary dressing tools differ from other dressing discs with scattered diamonds on the surface profile in geometrically defined cutting edges. A new kinematic process model regards this difference and enables a prognosis of the normal dressing force. This force component mainly affects the grain breakout on the surface of the grinding wheel.
