Abstract
The effects of joule heating temperature on the microstructure and the residual stress of Ti-6Al-4V alloy were investigated. The results show that the precipitation of secondary alpha phase and recrystallization of primary alpha occur at the temperature of 900 °C. The compressive stress is introduced due to the high temperature at the centre of the specimen. It is proved that the joule heating plays an important role in controlling the microstructure and the residual stress in Ti-6Al-4V alloy for U-shaped screw.
