Abstract
A survey is made of modern views on the structure and mechanical properties of nanosized-grain polycrystalline metals and alloys, grain-refining techniques, special features of the deformation mechanisms observed in the nanometer grain-size range with emphasis on the role of grain-boundary sliding and problems associated with the Hall-Petch parameters in the case of the nanocrystalline grain size.
