Abstract
In this paper we derive the minimal wave speed of bacteria development for a bacterial colony model with the transitions between active bacteria and inactive bacteria. The existence of traveling wave solutions is obtained by introducing an auxiliary system and applying Schauder's fixed point theorem. The non-existence of traveling wave solutions is established with the aid of a negative one-sided Laplace transform. The upper bounds of colony waves and their energies are provided.
