Abstract
In this paper, based on the generalized Kaup-Newell(KN) spectral problem, the corresponding isospectral and nonisospectral soliton hierarchies are derived. It is shown that its Lie algebraic structure of the corresponding zero curvature equation is worked out. Finally the Ïâ symmetry algebra of the isospectral and nonisospectral generalized KN hierarchies is deduced.
