Abstract
Under investigation in this paper are the coupled higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger equations which can describe the propagation of ultrashort pulses in the inhomogeneous optical fiber. Nonautonomous rogue waves are derived via the generalized Darboux transformation. Tunneling effects of the nonautonomous rogue waves are discussed. Amplitudes of the nonautonomous rogue waves increase when they reach the dispersion barriers and restore their original shapes after passing through the barriers, while decrease at the dispersion wells. Those are reversed for the nonlinear barriers and nonlinear wells cases.
