Abstract
The novel symplectic superposition method is used in this work to yield the analytical benchmark bending solutions of rectangular thin plates point-supported at two adjacent corners. The solution procedure is rational and rigorous without any prior assumption of the solutions, thus it paves the way to accurate description of bending of point-supported plates. Numerical results are presented to show the validity of the method by comparison with those by the well-established finite element method (FEM). The present solutions are expected to serve for validation of various approximate/numerical methods.
