Abstract
▸ A nonlinear viscoelastic and viscoplastic constitutive model is developed to simulate creep and recovery behaviors of fiber ropes. ▸ Detailed methods for identifying the model parameters are proposed and demonstrated. ▸ The model is capable of quantitatively capturing the change-in-length properties of fiber ropes. ▸ The feasibility and precision of the model are examined by comparing with experiments.
