Abstract
The extended Kalman filtering (EKF) technique has been utilized in the estimation of reactivity which is a significantly important parameter to indicate the status of the nuclear reactor. In this paper, the performances of two EKF schemes using different Jacobian matrices are compared. Numerical simulations are used for the validation and comparison of these two EKF schemes, and the results show that the Jacobian matrix obtained directly from the discrete-time state model performs better than the one which is the discretization form of the Jacobian matrix obtained from the continuous-time state model.
