Abstract
The deposition of particle-like corrosion products on the inner surface of SG (steam generator) tube is likely to have negative effects on the safe operation of a PWR (pressurized water reactor). In this research, a model considering particles as elastic spheres is proposed to predict the deposition distribution of corrosion products. In the model, the collisions between particles and wall are modeled based on a spring-mass system. Based on the model, numerical calculations were performed to analyze the influence of various Reynolds numbers and elbow curvatures on particle deposition. The computation results of the particles' motion and deposition distribution in SG tubes indicated good agreements with the experimental results.
