Abstract
Oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) based steels are being investigated for reactor/nuclear applications. Therefore, a better understanding of the interaction of different gamma ray energies with ODS materials is required. We use WinXCom program to calculate the mass attenuation coefficient for different compositions of ODS at photon energies (1 keV-100 GeV). The attenuation coefficient data were then used to obtain the effective atomic numbers (Zeff), effective electron densities (Nel) and photon mean free path (λ) of the investigated materials. The investigation was carried out to explore the radiation attenuation parameters of these important materials.
