Abstract

•The structure in which magneto-electro-elastic material bonded to piezoelectric material is considered.•The scattering of the SH wave on a crack has an arbitrary incidence angle.•Using the Fourier transforms and the Copson method.

The present work investigates the problem of the scattering of the SH wave in an arbitrary direction by a crack in a semi-infinite magneto-electro-elastic material bonded to a half-space of piezoelectric material using the Copson method. Fourier transforms are used to reduce the problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations. The solution of the dual integral equations is then expressed in terms of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The normalized dynamic stress intensity factor at the crack tip is obtained, and numerical results are provided to show the influence of the crack length, the distance from the crack to the interface, wave number and the incidence angle upon the normalized dynamic stress intensity factor.
