Abstract
Crude bio-oil was separated into middle fraction and heavy fraction with molecular distillation apparatus. Oxygenated compounds in crude bio-oil were redistributed to its fractions. Emulsion fuels from crude bio-oil and its fractions were prepared by single ultrasonic emulsification or ultrasonic-mechanical emulsification, which produced a fuel emulsion with a long stability period of 31 days. To explain the different emulsification behaviors between crude bio-oil and its fractions, spherical shell mechanism models were proposed according to their composition.
