Abstract
These investigations, using an MCNP based model, indicate a soil cylinder of greater than 20Â m diameter and of no less than 50Â cm depth/height, combined with a 20Â m deep sky section above the soil cylinder, are needed to representatively model the semi-infinite plane of uniformly distributed NORM sources. Initial investigation of the effect of detector placement indicate that smaller source sizes may be used to achieve a representative response at shorter source to detector distances.
