Abstract
Strength of structural components is predicted. Two cases have been studied to explore the possibility of determining the damage level of the materials by the flat cylindrical indentation method with the help of the finite element method (FEM). The first uses the Gurson model for analyzing the elastic–plastic damage. The second uses the Katchanov–Robotnov law to predict the creep damage. The analytical results show that the damage levels can be determined by the flat cylindrical indentation experimental method.
