Abstract
This paper aims to establish a balance between the input parameters used in modeling seismic and aseismic events, and the data that are available in a mine. With regard to the input parameters, their minimal set is suggested. For output seismic parameters, we distinguish three groups of statistical distributions provided by field observations of various quality. The first group includes distributions of the event location. They serve for improving the data on geometrical features of a problem. The second group employs distributions of the event magnitude. They serve for evaluating the risk of strong events. The third group employs distributions of the geometrical parameters of the event source mechanism. They serve for connecting stresses and seismicity. The exposition is illustrated by considering an example of long-wall mining of a coal seam.
