Abstract
•A theoretical model is proposed to predict the closure deformation of rock joint.•Influence of asperity interaction is considered.•Interaction is regarded as a displacement on the surface caused by a mean pressure.•The model considers the contact behavior between “waviness” and “unevenness”.
