Abstract
•Axial displacement–time and porosity–time relation in the creep experiments.•Axial displacement and porosity are effected by fragment size and loadings.•Creep mechanisms include fragment crushing, splitting and rearrangement.•Abrupt changes in axial displacement are observed in the steady state creeps.•Formation of shear zone is the possible mechanism of the abrupt changes.
