Abstract
Research highlights► A series of rock salt has been tested under complex stress paths. ► Rock salt has no obvious destruction surface under high confining pressure. ► Under unloading confining pressure, the changing magnitude of stress required for rock failure is comparably less than that of triaxial compressive. ► Changing the maximum and average cyclic loading can affect the process of fatigue damage. ► The fatigue damage curve is controlled by complete stress-strain curve of static loading.
