Abstract

► Double U shaped gateroad layout is an effective ventilation type in highly gas and thick seam coal mines. ► We proposed an innovative roadway layout on pillar arrangement and development sequence. ► The evolution of the abutment stress and the deformation characteristic of gateroad were studied. ► The study results were successfully applied to a field engineering.
