Abstract
In this research, an environmentally-friendly cross-linker, citric acid, has been examined to enhance the resistance of wool to relaxation shrinkage. Citric acid was not only helpful to reduce the relaxation shrinkage after washing but dry easy care performance was also enhanced. The incorporation of formic acid as swelling agent further enhanced the performance of citric acid on wool fabric. In addition, improvement of tensile strength and antimicrobial activity were other positive aspects of the cross-linking of wool with citric acid.
