Abstract
âºIn this work, the relationships between the Free Swelling Index and coal quality parameters for a series of Pennsylvanian-age high volatile bituminous coals were tested with a series of conventional regression tests and less-conventional fuzzy logic tests. Group-macerals, the amount of mineral matter, moisture, sulfur, and vitrinite maximum reflectance proved to be the best predictors using both methods.
