Abstract
⺠Sequence stratigraphy and coal properties in South Santa Catarina Coalfield, Brazil. ⺠Precursor mires formed in high stand, low stand and transgressive systems tracts. ⺠Major peat accumulation in an estuarine-barrier shoreface depositional environment. ⺠Coal rank ranges from HVB A to LVB. Maceral composition is highly variable. ⺠Coals are enriched in trace elements of environmental concern.
