Abstract
Computed X-ray tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mercury porosimetry are key experimental methods for detailed pore space characterization of low porosity and low permeability rocks. Calculations dedicated to bones parametrization were carried out and tested on tight sandstones in order to get the quantitative information about pore space structure. Innovative approach in estimating pore throat diameter is introduced based on best-fit ellipsoid's radiuses. Application of semivariogram for pores location allows assessing the heterogeneity in pore space structure. Sphericity determined based on enclosed volume and surface area is a more creditable parameter in comparison to parameter reflecting the pore roundness calculated from moments of inertia. Undeniable CT advantage is a possibility to perform 3D pore space visualization what confirmed the usefulness of quantitative parameters. New software poROSE was presented as porous materials examination software for images qualitative and quantitative interpretation.
